This last year has brought many challenges. We have planned and replanned countless weddings and celebrations. In many cases larger weddings transitioned to a mini version. Just because a wedding is small doesn’t mean it isn’t filled with love, laughter, and celebrating a special moment with those who mean the most to you. Olivia and Cole’s wedding was just that.

We designed the wedding to be classic and romantic with a neutral color palette. Battling 20 mph winds and heavy rain we made a day of change to forgo the gardens and move inside to the chapel space at Commodore Perry Estate. Stems Floral worked wonders with a dramatic floral arch and delicate aisle arrangements.

After the ceremony the guests made their way to The Proper Hotel where we had an intimate dinner in the foyer followed by a dance party. For the dinner we kept the same romantic garden neutral design of the ceremony but with a few added textures of scrolled calligraphy place cards, cement chargers from Magnolia, gold flatware, and clear glassware. Paired with modern wishbone chairs from Loot Rentals which tied the table design to the Scandinavian wood paneling in the foyer space.

The ballroom at The Proper Hotel Austin is a funky space with its unique ceiling lighting and black carpet evoking the bats who live under the nearby bridge. For this space, a romantic, neutral garden vibe would not work so we shifted gears and brought in woven linen sofas, reclaimed wood tables, velvet accent chairs and leather pieces. We took inspiration from the hotels eclectic decor to outfit the ballroom space to create a comfortable area for guests to connect and dance. The stage area faced the large floor to ceiling windows giving guests a commanding view of downtown Austin.

It was a pleasure to plan this wedding and create such a special day for two of the nicest people we know.
