This past spring we had the privilege of planning Shilpa and Steve's hill country Indian-fusion wedding! I am so excited to finally be able to share all the details with you! This week we are going to take a look at their Mehndi party design and stop by next week to see all the details from their gorgeous hill country wedidng.
The concept for the Mehndi was to create a Bollywood/Mumbai street party complete with saree linen details, a Bollywood dance troupe, classic Indian street food and an vibrant floral and decor. We even created a looping video for the event of all the classic Bollywood movie dance routines that played on a loop throughout the night.
For the overall design we kept the color palette focused around purple, turquoise with hints of marigold orange and pink. Some of my favorite details was the tropical leaf Ganesh, the amazing henna cookies, the entrance draping and the miniature elephant floral vases. To celebrate Steve's Scottish heritage we had a Scottish/Indian fusion dessert bar complete with liquorice allsorts, mini flake bars, wine gums, scotty dog shortbread cookies, henna decorated cookies, and rasmalai.
The main part of the evening was the entertainment. Agni dance created a fantastic show for the guests and the group dance lesson afterwards was a huge hit. This was a great way to fill the dance floor! After the dance party got started, DJ Klasikhz kept the party going and was accompanied by a dhol drummer which brought this party to the next level.
